A detailed
description of all the mods included in this Jaguar pack.
The Swinging Grappling Hook v1.0
Author: Perecli "Bort" Manole
A definite winner! With it's advanced
swinging algorithm, it is really easy to get into the game. The Swinging
Grappling Hook is a rotating iron shaft with claws, thrown by a chain
and used for grasping, drawing and holding. Can be used for getting
out of tight spots, getting to unreachable places, and even stabbing
your enemy, inflicting pain. Make your self a hard target to hit by
swinging from the hook while taking shots at the poor saps below.
The hook requires no ammunition. You're going to like this one!
Features
- unprecedented use of true to life swinging physics
- ability to climb up or drop down the chain
- ability to push opponent(i.e. in lava) from hook impact
- ability to inflict damage to your opponents with the hook
- undisturbed use of weapons during hook use
Morning Star Grappling Hook Weapon v1.11
Author: Michael A.
This is yet another version of the grappling hook. I've included
this one simply because I had already added it to the Quake C code
just before Bort came out with his swinging hook. I decided it would
be too much work to remove this one, so I left it in. It's actually
pretty cool to be able to "double-grapple" sometimes when
you're in a pinch.
To launch the Morning Star Grapple, cycle the weapons to it,
and simply fire the attack button as you would any other weapon.
If the star contacts something and you are still holding the attack
button, you will be pulled up to it and held there until you release
the attack button. You can change
weapons while the star is attached to something (although you can't
control the star while you are using another weapon). To unhook
the star, you'll have to change back to it.

Flame Thrower Weapon
Authors: Steve Bond & John Guthrie
Modified By: John
"JAG" Nadeau
A new custom weapon that sends burning flames towards your enemy.
You can even set people on fire. If you get set on fire by a flamethrower,
you better move to some water or slime quickly. If you roast while
trying to find water, whoever set you on fire gets a frag (be sure
to check out the cool bubbles after someone on fire jumps into the
water). When you pick up a Grenade Launcher, you also get a Flamethrower.
It uses shells for fuel. The range is fairly short, but this weapon
is very powerful. You cannot set yourself on fire with your own
flamethrower. When someone dies with a flamethrower/grenade launcher,
you will get both weapons from their backpack. Burning players and
monsters also light up the area. You cannot run with the flamethrower,
this was intentionally left in to be a limitation to the weapon.
A center-printed "On Fire" warning message is displayed when you
are on fire.
Jaguar Mod Enhancements:
Created a custom texture for the flame thrower so that it looks
distinguishably different from the grenade launcher model which
is used for the flame thrower. I also configured it so that the
grenade launcher is still available to be used instead of being
replaced.
Throwing Axe Weapon
Author: Steve Bond
Modified By: John
"JAG" Nadeau
A new weapon that replaces the regular Quake axe allowing you to
send a spinning axe towards your target. When you spawn you get
five axes and you can always pick up more after your enemy throws
some of theirs.
Jaguar Mod Enhancements:
I thought it would be better to combine the throwing axe and the
regular axe rather than having two different weapons (original
design). Now if you have axes, you use the throwing axe an when
you're out of throwing axes, then you automatically change to
the regular axe weapon. There's no longer a need to toggle between
the two.
Flares
Author: Steve Bond
These are spike-shaped flares that you shoot into a wall/floor/ceiling
to light to the room. These flares give off a dim light when you
first fire them, then they will sizzle and spark to life, brightly
illuminating the area around it. After 7 seconds or so at full burn,
the flare will dim again, and 15 seconds later it will burn out.
Flares will do one hit point of damage if you hit a monster/player
with them. They will disappear if they hit a door or platform. A
known problem is while standing waist or chest deep in water, the
flare will sometimes disappear, and other times it will hit a ways
away from you.
Decoyz
Author: Sam Shockey & Jason Busby
Allows you to create a fake double of yourself that you can remotely
detonate at will. The decoy will also detonate when touched by an
enemy. Another cool thing is that the decoy will start shooting
at enemy players when spotted (although the shooting is harmless
to the enemy) so it appears more life-like. The decoy will also
give you a warning (a text message in the upper-left-hand part of
your screen) when it spots an enemy.
Demo Charges
Author: Steve Bond
Creates a remotely controlled bomb that the user can detonate at
will as long as you are in somewhat the same area as the bomb (2000
quake units).
Dropstuff
Authors: Steve Bond & John Guthrie
Allows you to put your current weapon and some of it's ammo into
a backpack and throw it. This is great for Team Deathmatch because
you can hand off a weapon you aren't using to a newly-spawned teammate
or you can toss a couple of these packs into a dark corner if you
think you might die soon. After spawning you can go back and get
the goods. If you wish to use this patch in a multiplayer game,
only the computer that is acting as the server will need to run
this patch.
Multiskins 1.1
Author: Dennis Noordsij
Modified By: John
"JAG" Nadeau
Allows you to change your model's skin into something other
than the default Quake Guy texture. Whenever you select a skin,
the console will tell you which one you have. Team play is still
color oriented. A Ranger can still kill a Ranger. Unfortunately,
when you die, the corpse skin will change to the normal texture
as soon as you respawn.
Jaguar Mod Enhancements:
All the original skins that the author provided have been replaced
with completely new ones. These skins were made by various artists
off the web. I also cleaned up any skins that needed it, and gave
guns and axe textures to the skins that didn't have them. Here
are the customized skin names:
Army
Ranger
Captain America Dude
Mid-Evil Knight
Conan The Barbarian
Bobba Fett
Storm Trooper
Han Solo
C3PO
Lava Man
Goggle Guy
NIN Dude
Boy Scout
Waldo
Cool Joe
Borg |
Football
Player
Marvin The Martian
Mask Man
Monster
The Crow
Elvis Presley
Ape Man
Flash Gordon
Kramer
Businessman
Future Knight
Machine Gun Tony
Skeleton
Slick
Quake Dude |
Note: If you chose to modify the skins
file (player.mdl), you will need to change the weapons.qc and client.qc
files to match your skin name changes. There is only one section
in each file to change so it shouldn't be too difficult.
Quake Talk
Author: Simon Francis
Modified By: John
"JAG" Nadeau
Lets you shout random "abuse" in the form of .wav files
at other players. Those near you will hear it loud and those further
away will here it quietly (or not at all). The sounds should also
be broadcasted in stereo. You can broadcast as many messages as
you like at the same time.
Jaguar Mod Enhancements:
I've added some interesting samples from various sources (Monty
Python, Warner Bros., etc.) to supply more sounds than the author
provided. The sounds are also now limited to one keystroke (F1-F12)
per sound rather than toggling between sounds. And for your convenience,
I've included even more unused sounds in .wav format to give you
the option to change later if you would like. Simply change the
precache_sound file names in the weapons.qc file (there are two
sections that need to be changed).
Zoom Script
Modified By: John
"JAG" Nadeau
Allows you to zoom in and out
so that you can see your enemy a lot easier.
